Concerned Citizens Are Gaining Positive Momentum From the HJCG’s Recent Court Victory and Stopping Unwanted Road Projects All Across Wisconsin!

Since the HJCG obtained its favorable court decision last year stopping the Highway 164 four-lane expansion in both Waukesha and Washington Counties, concerned citizens all across the State of Wisconsin are vigorously "fighting back" and stopping other unwanted road expansion projects in their respective communities.

For example, just last month, a group of concerned citizens from the Town of Salem in Kenosha County successfully stopped the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) from building a roundabout at the main road entrance to their school.  The citizens had preferred a traffic light with lower speed limits on the roadway in front of their school, but the WisDOT bureaucrats in Madison were not listening to their concerns about the safety of their children who attended the local school district in Salem.  After threatening to hire our citizens group's legal team to file a lawsuit, the WisDOT ultimately "backed down" and dropped this unwanted roundabout project.  For more details on this impressive citizen victory, please see the two news articles from the Kenosha News and a related blogsite by clicking on the PDF links immediately below this paragraph.

Also, a few days ago, the Village of Sauk City in Central Wisconsin successfully stopped the WisDOT from expanding State Highway 12 through their community.  The WisDOT had planned to expand this highway from two to four lanes through Sauk City, and they were going to make the village residents pay the $1.2 million cost to relocate the sewer, water and electric lines under the road.  The people fought back and refused to allow the WisDOT to expand Highway 12 under these circumstances because such expansion would provide little or no benefit to Sauk City.  As a result, the WisDOT had no choice but to stop construction at the village borders.  For more details, please see the Daily Reporter news article in the PDF link immediately below this paragraph.

Finally, two Sheboygan County farm owners are getting positive results in stopping an unwanted interchange on Interstate 43 which, if built, would be open only one week every five years for the limited purpose of handling traffic going to the PGA golf tournaments held at the nearby Whistling Straits golf course.  Although the Sheboygan County Circuit Court recently ruled against these two families, they are planning to file an appeal which could delay this unwanted interchange for several years.  This delay will give the WisDOT a strong incentive to look for other more reasonable alternatives instead of building this interchange.  For more details, please see the three news articles from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Sheboygan Press linked immediately below this paragraph.

THE BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THAT, IF CITIZENS "STAND UP" AND "VIGOROUSLY FIGHT" THE WISDOT BUREAUCRATIC BULLIES, THEY CAN WIN AND STOP UNNECESSARY, FISCALLY-IRRESPONSIBLE AND ENVIRONMENTALLY-DAMAGING ROAD PROJECTS IN THEIR COMMUNITIES!
